In Favor or Against Death Penalty?

Capital punishment, also known as the death penalty, is a government sanctioned practicewhereby a person is put to death by the state as a punishment for a crime. The sentence that someone be punished in such a manner is referred to as a death sentence, whereas the act of carrying out the sentence is known as an execution. Crimes that can result in a death penalty are known as capital crimes or capital offences. The term capital is derived from the Latin capitalis (“of the head”, referring to execution by beheading). It’s a tough call for some, especially when you take each case individually. Some crimes are of such a wrongful nature, we feel the who committed crime deserves to pay with his/her life. But people cannot be emotional here. Community and the government need to look at our system as a whole, in it’s entirety. If the court gets it wrong EVEN ONE TIME and an innocent person gets executed and their family devastated, that is reason enough to abolish the death penalty. There is NEVER justification for a civilized nation, a democratic system of government to take the life of an innocent person. But it’s not fair for a victim, if he/she dies, their family suffers, and knowing that the criminal can get out of bail just by paying certain amount of money as a sanction. We cannot buy life and cannot exchange money for it.
