Atty. Panelo violates no-parking law and uses “Du30” special plate
MANILA, Philippines – Incoming presidential spokesperson Sal Panelo on Monday said he did not violate any parking rules, and wanted to correct a Facebook post that suggested he acted as if he was above the law.
A certain Clarisse Evangelista posted on Facebook on June 12, her account of how Panelo refused to move his car after parking illegally at the Greenhills Shopping Center, where she said parking on the streets is prohibited.
The post said that when Panelo stepped out of his car, he placed a Duterte tarpaulin on the car, took selfies with some people who recognized him, and walked away.
Clarisse Evangelista said:
Earlier today Atty. Salvador Panelo was in his car in Greenhills shopping center, outside Mercury and Tropical Hut Shoppesville. He was asked by guard to move his car. He didn’t budge.
He later stepped out of his car, brought out a Duterte tarp which he placed on the car, walked away leaving his car in a no parking area.
If someone else saw the same incident and has a different perception of what happened, that’s their own. I have no plans of trying to change their opinion.
This I know for certain: parking is prohibited on the streets inside Greenhills Shopping Centre, regardless of who you are. There are designated parking buildings.
Part of peace and unity is respecting and following the law and rules even when they are inconvenient. Furthermore, when you are a working for the President (or soon to be President), you should set a good example and make sure you are not perceived as using your connections to get special treatment
